The New Mayor Promises a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in Inaugural Address

In a first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani pledged to “reimagine” America's largest city, ushering in “a different age” and an ambitious commencement to his term.

An Unprecedented Leader

The 34-year-old political star, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, is the city's first Muslim mayor. He also made history by being the first to be sworn in using the Qur'an.
